Sunday Snapshot-Celebrating Thanksgiving and so many other things....

This year we celebrated Thanksgiving early at our house. Friday I rushed home from school to get myself busy in the kitchen preparing a feast for my family. It was such a sweet time of sharing fun and food. It was a small gathering compared to what we are used to but it was so very special. Just the seven of us stuffing ourselves with turkey and all the trimmings! All of our family will not be together on Thanksgiving Day. Anna Kayla left Saturday for Costa Rica. She is with some other members of our church on a mission trip. She will definitely be missed but I know she is exactly where she is supposed to be this year. For that reason our celebration and feasting came early... the table was set,

and the turkey, dressing, sides and the pumpkin and chocolate pies were ready and waiting on our guests.

Blessings were said by the little ones and the big ones.

and a a good time was had by all. It was a casual gathering filled with warmth and love all around. Afterwards this sweet girl went home to finish packing and head for the airport. Not only did we celebrate Thanksgiving... but a few days earlier my Land had his fourteenth birthday. Of course this family celebrated with lots of food. He decided to spread his party out over the course of several days. One night he decided on Italian cuisine and another night was a seafood extravaganza. Along with other birthday gifts Paul gave him tickets and a little trip to Wake Forest to see Clemson play.

Here are the two of them right before the game. They love these father -son outings!

A view from their seats.

Land outside the stadium. They had a great time. Along with celebrating his birthday Land also had some other accomplishments to celebrate!

Here he is at his Athletic Awards Banquet receiving his certificate for being one of the Captains of the football team.

His big award of the night was when his name was called for Most Valuable Offensive Player! You know how much this boy loves football so this award meant a lot to him.

This is the picture that appeared in our local newspaper. He looks so handsome standing up there. We are so very proud of him! And now to do a little catching up....

These pictures are from our zoo trip and picnic that we took on Halloween Day! I am so far behind on my posting that I had to include these because this is my family's scrapbook.

We had a great time...of course all of us had to milk the wooden cow!!!

Giving a little squeeze...

yes, I had to do it too!

Our trip wouldn't be complete without a ride on the carousel.

With a little help from dad.

We also had to make refreshment stops along the way.

Whew! Now to get ready for more Thanksgiving celebrations. Here's hoping that your Thanksgiving is as sweet as these two! Enjoy your friends and family and count all those blessings you have!!!

Until next time...

Remember that:

There in the presence of the Lord your God, you and your families shall eat and shall rejoice in everything you have put your hand to, because the Lord your God has blessed you.

Happy Thanksgiving! I love that scripture verse! And I don't recall it.

Your celebration looks just perfect. I hope your daughter's mission trip goes well. You must be so proud of her. You two look like sisters!
