Sunday Snapshot-"Lovin" the Leaves!

We couldn't resist getting out and enjoying the fresh fallen leaves in our yard. The little one's fun began with a climb in their favorite tree. With these two it's always a race to see who gets into, onto or out of something first.

This one usually wins and even if he doesn't his sweet sister says he did! How's that for some love.

Climbing up....

and just playing around.

It took us quite a while to pick all of the leaves out of one little girl's hair...

and we did wind up with a few grass stains from all the rolling around!

But it was all worth it!

The smiles and giggles were almost as numerous as the leaves!

One of them even lost a shoe in the process!

Since there didn't seem to be enough leaves on the ground these two decided to jump up for more. Fall and all its vibrant colors are abundant around here. God has truly painted us a beautiful landscape. I am in awe of the beauty He creates for us. His plan is so perfect that even every tree has its place.

Until next time...

Happy Happy Thanksgiving!

May all of you truly have a blessed day. The ham is baking in the oven, pots and pans are clanging in the kitchen and the children are all cozy and warm in their pajamas ready to watch the Thanksgiving Day parade. Later we will pack ourselves and our food up and hurry over to my sister's house to celebrate with family and friends. Oh how I love this time of the year!!!! May we savor every moment.

Until next time this verse is worth repeating:

There in the presence of the Lord your God, you and your families shall eat and shall rejoice in everything you have put your hand to, because the Lord your God has blessed you.

Deuteronomy 12:7
Yes, we have been blessed,

Sunday Snapshot-Celebrating Thanksgiving and so many other things....

This year we celebrated Thanksgiving early at our house. Friday I rushed home from school to get myself busy in the kitchen preparing a feast for my family. It was such a sweet time of sharing fun and food. It was a small gathering compared to what we are used to but it was so very special. Just the seven of us stuffing ourselves with turkey and all the trimmings! All of our family will not be together on Thanksgiving Day. Anna Kayla left Saturday for Costa Rica. She is with some other members of our church on a mission trip. She will definitely be missed but I know she is exactly where she is supposed to be this year. For that reason our celebration and feasting came early... the table was set,

and the turkey, dressing, sides and the pumpkin and chocolate pies were ready and waiting on our guests.

Blessings were said by the little ones and the big ones.

and a a good time was had by all. It was a casual gathering filled with warmth and love all around. Afterwards this sweet girl went home to finish packing and head for the airport. Not only did we celebrate Thanksgiving... but a few days earlier my Land had his fourteenth birthday. Of course this family celebrated with lots of food. He decided to spread his party out over the course of several days. One night he decided on Italian cuisine and another night was a seafood extravaganza. Along with other birthday gifts Paul gave him tickets and a little trip to Wake Forest to see Clemson play.

Here are the two of them right before the game. They love these father -son outings!

A view from their seats.

Land outside the stadium. They had a great time. Along with celebrating his birthday Land also had some other accomplishments to celebrate!

Here he is at his Athletic Awards Banquet receiving his certificate for being one of the Captains of the football team.

His big award of the night was when his name was called for Most Valuable Offensive Player! You know how much this boy loves football so this award meant a lot to him.

This is the picture that appeared in our local newspaper. He looks so handsome standing up there. We are so very proud of him! And now to do a little catching up....

These pictures are from our zoo trip and picnic that we took on Halloween Day! I am so far behind on my posting that I had to include these because this is my family's scrapbook.

We had a great time...of course all of us had to milk the wooden cow!!!

Giving a little squeeze...

yes, I had to do it too!

Our trip wouldn't be complete without a ride on the carousel.

With a little help from dad.

We also had to make refreshment stops along the way.

Whew! Now to get ready for more Thanksgiving celebrations. Here's hoping that your Thanksgiving is as sweet as these two! Enjoy your friends and family and count all those blessings you have!!!

Until next time...

Remember that:

There in the presence of the Lord your God, you and your families shall eat and shall rejoice in everything you have put your hand to, because the Lord your God has blessed you.

Farewell to Football...For Now

My Land has been a football player for as long as he's been able to hold a ball. He used to refer to himself as a "sootball boy". He wore a football uniform everyday of his little life, even to the point of wearing this one out! This picture below was just a little glimpse of what was to come. Here he is at two striking a pose after passing the ball. Where does the time go...

.
Here he is warming up before one of his games. A football uniform just suits this boy!

Here he is as defensive end, lined up and ready to hit.

Stretching for as many yards as possible.

Taking a few knocks along the way. This is the part of the game that I do not like!

In fullback position.

Taking the hand off in double overtime. Land scored two touchdowns and two two point conversions to win the game! This boy LOVES him some football. I can't even describe how my heart just about beats out of my chest when he is on that field. I get so excited for him because I know this is what he has always wanted to do!

Here he is ,arms locked, with some of his best buddies. They are taking the field for their last Middle School game as team captains.

He always had the two little ones cheering him on.

Down by the fence getting a better look.

Anna Kayla and Greg were also there as often as possible.

This picture was taken at his last game by the team's photographer, it's Land scoring one of the three touchdowns he scored in this game. I love that determined look on his face! His Middle School season is over but he's already started conditioning for Junior Varsity baseball and he is looking forward to next year when he will play High School football! I'm not sure if this mama's heart will be able to take that!!!!!
Until next time...
Today is Orphan Sunday. My heart is burdened for those without families. I spoke about it at church this morning and I challenge each of us to in some way answer the call to...
Defend the cause of the Fatherless
Isaiah 1:17
November is also National Adoption Month! Could you be called to adopt????
Pray about it, you might be surprised at what God calls you to do!!!!
